LGBTQ short films Dutch Courage will be shown in Narva and Tartu on June 2, 2024

The Q-Space organization will celebrate the beginning of Pride month with film events in Narva and Tartu: on June 2, you will be able to watch and discuss the collection of short films Dutch Courage.

June is a LGBTQ Pride Month when most Pride events around the world take place. In Estonia Q-Space invites people to gather to watch a collection of powerful and relevant films about the LGBTQ community from the Netherlands that has already made great strides in accepting gender diversity and equality.

The collection of films Dutch Courage demonstrates key events in the history of the LGBTQ movement, and also touches on current issues: transgender issues, intersex and non-binary, queer education, kids in LGBTQ families, inclusion and people with disabilities.

The collection consists of nine films that tell a variety of stories. There are teenagers just realizing their identity (“Nova”, “Dancing with Gender”), an intersex person looking for people similar to themselves (GirlBoyMix”), and a child from a family consisting of two dads (“Foster”), a young bisexual woman who comes out in a traditional Turkish family (“Besh”). The collection will conclude with the film “Short Calf Muscle,” which ironically asks the question: what does it even mean to be “different”?

In Narva, a screening and discussion will take place as part of the Everyone is Learning festival, which is organized by the Vitatiim organization.

The discussion in Russian will be moderated by Mikhail Mogutov, teacher and leader of educational projects.

June 2 (Sunday), 17.00 - 20.00. Narva, Tuleviku 7, Vitatiim, admission is free.

The film screening in Tartu will be held jointly with the LGBTQ Peemoti Center.
